The Miller Place Park Homeowner's Association (MPPHOA) is a non-profit association established to serve the needs of our community - Seifert Gardens, Sunset Bluffs and Miller Place Park. The MPPHOA is incorporated under the laws of New York State and has its own set of bylaws. We are a community based organization with an all-volunteer Board of Directors.
Originally, the association was formed to maintain the beach and the pathways leading to it. Over the years it has taken on broader responsibilities, such as:
Acting as liaison with Brookhaven Town for the building of gabions, road repair, and traffic and safety issues.
Communicating with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) at the town, county and state level.
Working with the Suffolk County Police - giving neighborhood watch talks, enforcing parking regulations and dispersing groups that don't belong in our community.
Working with the Miller Place Civic Association - disseminating information to the community and representing the views and concerns of our association.
But our most important objective is to continue to create a sense of community and preserve the natural beauty of "our beach".
Our relatively inexpensive membership dues pay our tax and insurance bills, security and lifeguards during the summer months and the costs of materials for maintenance and repairs to the steps and bulkhead. Most of the maintenance and repair work is done through the efforts of community member volunteers.
We invite all of our neighbors to participate in volunteer projects and events!
